'GODIVA'
'wear a tree on your face'
SPECtacular Cats!
these amazingly beautiful wooden cat eye sunglasses are
Handmade in England by Moathouse.
Each frame takes days to make and is lovingly crafted by
Master Artisan Nick Clarke
Made with responsibly sourced wood, these frames are handcrafted in Appleby Magna, Central England.
Care is taken to find the very best wood veneer.
Each pair is totally unique.
The veneer laminates are formed together and shaped to make a durable product which is stronger than solid wood. They are sanded by hand and polished using a ‘skin friendly’ protective finishing product.
In the sunglasses, we use the very best CR39 lenses which offer 100% UV protection for your eyes.
We also use premier quality spring hinges
All Moats come with a complimentary scratch resist sleeve and Cargo Box.
Your glasses and sunglasses will be water ‘resistant’ and most of them float (a real saving grace should you accidentally lose them from your head in the sea!) but care should be taken not to immerse them in water for any length of time.
We hope that you enjoy wearing your Moats as much as we have enjoyed making them for you.
PRESERVING OUR RAINFORESTS FOR YEARS TO COME
When you purchase these frames and sunglasses, Moat House Eyewear provide payment to Endangered Species International to plant a rare Ebony Kamagong tree in The Tarsier Sanctuary in Southern Philippines. This both restores the rainforest and reconnects important patches on primary rainforest. All trees planted are monitored to ensure success and provide full recovery of rainforest and biodiversity. We also pay for the associated labour costs to plant this tree. (http://www.endangeredspeciesinternational.org)

Sam and Nick Clarke, Founder/Directors, pride themselves on hand crafting their wooden sunglasses here in England, playing their part in the Great British Manufacturing revival. They think it is essential to the British economy that the eyewear is not only designed in Britain, but also produced in Britain.
Wherever possible local suppliers are used to ensure a low carbon footprint.
All parts of the process are done in-house, including the glazing, giving us full control of our manufacturing and the ability to ramp up production quickly, to meet demand.
Moats are made differently to most other brands.
They are hand crafted, and the only digital machine used is a laser with which to cut the wood. The sunglasses are cross-laminated with high quality hardwoods which are sourced responsibly and layered up in fine sheets to create a stronger, more durable frame. This process also ensures absolute minimal wastage of the wood, unlike frames punched out of a machine, from a solid piece of wood.
In every area possible we do our best to keep a low carbon footprint making our wooden sunglasses one of the most eco-friendly, sustainable products on the market.
